The Challenge
The luxury auto brand "Moon Light" was launching their new flagship, the "Phantom Opera." This wasn't just a car; it was a piece of art. A standard, boring website with a photo gallery and a "learn more" button wouldn't work. They needed a digital launch that felt as innovative, exclusive, and high-tech as the car itself. The challenge was to capture the feeling of actually being with the car, all through a web browser.
The Solution
My solution was to create a fully interactive 3D showroom, not just a static webpage.
First, I designed a clean, minimalist, and "gallery-like" UI in Figma. The typography was elegant, the color palette was dark and sophisticated, and the layout was designed to get out of the way. The UI was a frame; the car was the art.
Next, I took the lead on the main interactive element. Working with the engineering team, we used a combination of Spline and Three.js to take the high-poly 3D model of the car and optimize it for the web. I designed a seamless user experience where visitors could:
Explore the car from any angle, rotating and zooming in real-time.
Click on hotspots to trigger animations and reveal key features, like the engine or the handcrafted interior.
Change the paint color and interior trim live on the model.
This entire experience was built and published using Framer, which allowed us to maintain blazing-fast page speeds despite the heavy 3D assets.
The Outcome
The launch was a massive success, both for the brand and for its bottom line. The immersive 3D experience went viral on design platforms and was praised by auto journalists.
More importantly, it drove real business results. The new site:
Won an Awwwards Site of the Day for its technical and creative innovation.
Drove a 250% increase in pre-orders compared to their previous model launch.
Doubled the average time on site, proving that users were deeply engaged with the 3D experience.
This project was a perfect fusion of brand strategy and interactive technology, creating a digital experience that truly lived up to the luxury of the product.
